Client Consent & Treatment Information

Last updated: 30 October 2026

My approach to massage and wellness therapy is individual, considered and centred around your needs.

I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns and being involved in decisions about your treatment. This page explains what you can expect when attending an appointment with me.

1. Before your appointment

Before your first treatment, you’ll be asked to complete a consultation form.

This helps me understand your health history, current symptoms, medications, injuries and anything else that may be relevant to your treatment.

Please answer as accurately and fully as possible. It’s important that I have the information I need to make appropriate decisions about your treatment.

If anything changes between appointments, please let me know before your next session.

2. Your individual treatment

No two people are the same, and I don’t believe treatment should be approached in a one-size-fits-all way.

As a sports therapist working holistically, I consider not only the areas you’re experiencing discomfort, but also how your body is responding more generally.

Depending on your circumstances, treatment may involve different massage techniques, gentle movement, positioning adjustments and approaches that consider your nervous system and overall wellbeing.

Treatment is always adapted to your individual needs, health and comfort.

3. Consent throughout treatment

Your consent is important at every stage of your appointment.

We’ll discuss your treatment beforehand, including the areas you’d like me to work on and anything you’d prefer me to avoid.

You are always welcome to:

Ask questions about your treatment.

Request changes to pressure, positioning or techniques.

Ask me to avoid particular areas.

Take a break during treatment.

Stop treatment at any point.

You never need to feel uncomfortable about speaking up.

Consent is ongoing, and agreeing to one treatment or technique does not mean you’ve automatically agreed to everything else.

4. Positioning and draping

I’ll always aim to ensure you’re appropriately covered and comfortable throughout your treatment.

Only the area being worked on will be uncovered, and I’ll explain any positioning changes or adjustments as we go.

If lying in a particular position is uncomfortable or difficult, please let me know. We can discuss alternative positioning where appropriate.

5. Pressure and treatment response

Massage doesn’t need to be painful to be effective.

I’ll check in with you about pressure and how you’re responding throughout your session.

You may experience some temporary tenderness or changes in how an area feels following treatment, but please let me know about any discomfort during or after your appointment.

If something doesn’t feel right, we’ll adapt the approach.

6. Medical conditions and working alongside healthcare professionals

I regularly work with people managing injuries, persistent pain, long-term health conditions and complex medical circumstances.

My role is to provide supportive, individualised massage and wellness therapy within my training and professional scope of practice.

I don’t diagnose medical conditions or replace the advice and treatment provided by your GP, consultant, physiotherapist or other healthcare professionals.

Where appropriate, I may recommend that you seek medical advice before proceeding with treatment.

7. Your comfort and wellbeing

I want your appointment to be a space where you can relax, communicate openly and feel listened to.

There is no expectation to tolerate discomfort or continue with something that doesn’t feel right.

Your feedback helps me understand how you’re responding and allows me to adapt your treatment accordingly.

8. Questions
